3d camera ready soon?
Stanford researchers cram 12,616 tiny lenses into a 3D camera
The system works by focusing each lens above four different overlapping sensor arrays, which work in concert to determine depth -- just like your eyes. Unlike similar systems, the Stanford rig is able to use that data to create a depth map without lasers, prisms, or even complex calibration, which will allow the team to shrink the tech down to compact and cellphone camera size.

Metal plastic! You got to see this!
ScienceDaily () -- Polymer chemists have created a flexible, indestructible material, called metal rubber, that can be heated, frozen, washed or doused with jet fuel, and still retain its electricity-conducting properties. To make metal rubber, chemists and engineers use a process called self-assembly. The material is repeatedly dipped into positively charged and negatively charged solutions. The positive and negative charges bond, forming layers that conduct electricity. Uses of metal rubber include bendy, electrically charged aircraft wings, artificial muscles and wearable computers.

Wireless Networks That Build Themselves
ScienceDaily (2008-03-14) -- From traffic lights to mobile phones, small computers are all around us. Enabling these 'embedded systems' to create wireless communications networks automatically will have profound effects in areas from emergency management to healthcare and traffic control. Networks of mobile sensors and other small electronic devices have huge potential. Applications include emergency management, security, helping vulnerable people to live independently, traffic control, warehouse management, and environmental monitoring.

OMG! Family tie 20 year reunion on NBC!!
I am watching my favourite show and the stars right now - Family tie is having a re-union after 20 years. Family tie has to the best show ever! I just love the show and the cast in it, they were so enjoyable to watch and believable as a real family. Of course it is no doubt it was Michael J Fox that made the show the way it was. The other characters were very good as the support cast to carry the story along. Seeing them together after 20 years is breath taking for me. It is for you too?
Wow! wow! wow!

I am very excited about Adobe air potentials! For the first time it enable anyone to be a programmer and I meant everyone! Adobe air beings together the perfect marriage of the Web applications and Desktop applications in one package. And it all free like the air we breath (pun intended LOL). You can use just html, just Flash, just Flex, just Web 2.0 technology or a combination of them to built a perfect applications. In addition you probably could use other technology as well- as the framework mature such as python, ruby, c and so on.
Air is beautiful with your own customizable Gui- Yes! No more drop dead standard windows GUI. with Gears from Google and Dojo and other under development unknown technology Air will become as common as Air we breath (pun intended LOL!).

Attending Adobe Air 1.0 Launch!
I was at the launch of Adobe air 1.0 last night, it was a great night with free Air T-shirt as an incentive for attending - I don't think that is enough free flex builder for all would be nice through! I've heard from the gravewine that Adobe has been given out free flex builder to student in USA; why not in Australia? Are we not important? Overall the night was OK but lack of lustre and you could only vote with your mobile on the showcase - I didn't have my mobile with me who would have known if you didn't say the invitation!
I'll be posting picture of the launch soon! See you.

Adobe air in perspective
This is a great article on adobe air at NYTIME so checkit out:
SAN FRANCISCO — On sabbatical in 2001 from Macromedia, Kevin Lynch, a software developer, was frustrated that he could not get to his Web data when he was off the Internet and annoyed that he could not get to his PC data when he was traveling.
Why couldn’t he have access to all his information, like movie schedules and word processing documents, in one place?
He hit upon an idea that he called “Kevincloud” and mocked up a quick demonstration of the idea for executives at Macromedia, a software development tools company. It took data stored on the Internet and used it interchangeably with information on a PC’s hard drive. Kevincloud also blurred the line between Internet and PC applications.
Seven years later, his brainchild is about to come into focus on millions of PCs. On Monday, Mr. Lynch, who was recently named the chief technology officer at Adobe Systems, which bought Macromedia in 2005, will release the official version of AIR

Benefits of Eating Chocolate???
Most people have heard that chocolate is good for you. But now, the medical journal Lancet is bursting the chocolate bubble.
Just in time for the holidays, a Lancet editorial published today notes that there won’t be a “truffle treatment” for heart disease any time soon. In fact, the editors point out that the very thing that makes chocolate good for you — the antioxidants called flavanols – also make chocolate taste bitter. As a result, confectionery makers often take out the flavanols, stripping the chocolate of its main health-promoting properties. Worse, labels usually don’t tell you whether your chocolate comes with or without flavanols, making it tough to know if a particular piece of chocolate has any health benefits at all.
OH NO! Polaroid is closing their instant film factory!
The company, which stopped making instant cameras for consumers a year ago and for commercial use a year before that, said today that as soon as it had enough instant film manufactured to last it through 2009, it would stop making that, too. Three plants that make large-format instant film will close by the end of the quarter, and two that make consumer film packets will be shut by the end of the year, Bloomberg News reports.

Blue eyes brown????
Wow! this is real supprise for me and may be for you as well!
People with blue eyes have a single, common ancestor, according to new research.
A team of scientists has tracked down a genetic mutation that leads to blue eyes. The mutation occurred between 6,000 and 10,000 years ago, so before then, there were no blue eyes.
"Originally, we all had brown eyes," said Hans Eiberg from the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Copenhagen.
